The Amazing Spider-Man is a third-person open world action/adventure video game, a tie-in to the film of the same name featuring the Marvel Comics superhero, Spider-Man. It was developed by Beenox, developer of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time, and published by Activision. It was released June 26, 2012 in North America and June 29, 2012 in Europe,on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, Android, and iOS, and PC. The game was written and scripted by Seamus Kevin Fahey, of Battlestar Galactica fame, and serves as an epilogue to The Amazing Spider-Man film.[8]
The Nintendo 3DS and Wii features a different, more linear game with the same script and plot. The game is not Open World, instead following a style of approach similar to that of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, where the player selects a level from a Hub, in this case Peter's apartment, before playing a mostly linear level. It was natively designed for the 3DS, and later ported to the Wii. aBeenox also developed this version.
